Renewable energy is produced by natural processes that are constantly renewed. This includes energy sources including sunshine, geothermal heat, wind, tides, water, and other biomasses. Its energy is never depleted and is always being replenished.

In contrast to traditional energy sources, which are frequently concentrated in a small number of nations, such as oil and gas, which are mostly found in the Middle Eastern countries, renewable energy sources are present over a large geographic region. Less pollution is produced when renewable energy sources are used to produce energy, and this has a big impact on both the economy and energy security.

Why is it called renewable energy?

Renewable energy is generated from continuously and naturally renewed resources, such as wind and sun energy (thus the term). It's also common to refer to renewable energy as sustainable energy. The antithesis of fossil fuels, which are limited energy sources like coal and gas, are renewable energy sources.

The most widely used renewable energy sources:

Solar energy: 

Solar energy is produced when the sun's heat and light interact.

Wind energy: 

Using wind turbines to produce electricity is known as wind power or wind energy.

Hydro energy: 

One of the earliest and most significant types of renewable energy, hydropower or hydroelectric power harnesses the naturally occurring flow of flowing water to produce electricity.

Tidal energy: 

As a result of the gravitational interplay between the Earth, the sun, and the moon, tides naturally rise and fall, producing tidal energy.

Geothermal energy: 

Geothermal energy is a form of renewable energy that is drawn from the Centre of the Earth. Both the radioactive decay of elements and the heat produced during the planet's initial creation are the sources of this energy. In the earth's interior, fluids and minerals contain this thermal energy.

Biomass energy: 

Energy created or produced by living or formerly living creatures is referred to as biomass energy. The most common biomass sources used for energy are plants, such the aforementioned soy and maize. These creatures' energy may either be burnt to produce heat or transformed into electricity.

The importance of renewable energy:

Clean, endless, and increasingly cost-effective energy may be found in renewable sources. They vary from fossil fuels primarily in their variety, quantity, and possibility for usage wherever on Earth, but most importantly in that, they don't emit any greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change or other pollutants. In contrast to fossil fuels, whose prices are generally trending in the wrong direction despite their current volatility, their costs are also reducing and at a sustainable rate.
